Back to Film/TV Work

richard(Working Title) The is a personal documentary about my journey to reconnect with my mother as she struggles with Parkinsons and aging, by traveling back with her and my father to Berlin to relive her dramatic escape over the Berlin Wall in 1961 and understand the woman who dared to cross the great divide alone. Using archival footage, my mother’s 8mm film, photographs, interviews with childhood friends, the story rebuilds the critical moments before, during and after her escape that lead her ultimately to the United States. Alongside us, is our loyal but petulant friend, ‘Mr. Parkinson’, as my mother affectionately calls him.  Mr. Parkinson later takes on center stage as my mother once again faces a difficult decision, and the past and present combine in ways I could have never imagined.
